Why early childhood education is important

AA closer look at our Nest and Children’s Community at IMS Sotogrande

In the foundational years of a child’s life, every experience shapes his or her future. At IMS Sotogrande we value these first years, offering personalized programs in our Nest (5-18 months) and Children’s Community (18 months to 3 years). Our approach goes beyond traditional education, focusing on holistic growth through practical life activities, encouraging language and motor skills, and cultivating independence within a Montessori environment.

Early Childhood Education:

The importance of early childhood education cannot be underestimated. In our Nido program, we create a nurturing environment for our youngest students, focusing on sensory and motor development. As they grow and enter the children’s community, the focus expands to include language development and independence, essential for the evolution of their personalities and abilities. This stage is critical, as children begin to absorb and interpret the world around them, laying the foundation for their future.

Children’s Community

Independence and movement:

In our Children’s Community, independence is a key objective. Through engaging activities such as dressing, preparing food and tidying up, children develop not only practical skills but also gain confidence and a sense of achievement. An integral part of the Montessori method, these activities improve fine motor skills and coordination, forming a foundation for academic skills such as writing and mathematics.

HepPower of practical life activities:

Practical Life activities are the core of our curriculum. These simple but impactful tasks do more than teach; develop life skills. Children learn to concentrate, establish order, and take pride in completing tasks. These experiences cultivate independence, respect for their environment, and understanding of their role in the community, while improving their physical dexterity.
