Welcome back to a new school year at IMS Sotogrande

· By Tamara Muñoz

Montessori Education

As the long summer fades and the excitement of the new school year continues to fill the air, we are delighted to welcome our students, families and staff to Sotogrande International Montessori School (IMS). These first few weeks have been incredible and we look forward to the many opportunities for exploration, growth, and learning that next year will bring.

Embracing the Montessori spirit

At IMS Sotogrande we remain deeply committed to the Montessori philosophy, which is the basis of everything we do. Maria Montessori once said: “The greatest sign of success for a teacher… is being able to say, ‘The kids are now working as if I don’t exist.'” This quote beautifully captures the essence of our approach: fostering independence, self-confidence and a love of learning in every child. Our goal is to create an environment where students are empowered to take charge of their own education, develop bilingualism, explore their interests, and become confident and capable individuals.

International groups of Montessori schools

We serve different age groups, ensuring that each child learns in an environment appropriate for their development:

  • nest (5 to 18 months): An enriching space where younger children develop through exploration and sensory experiences.
  • Children’s Community (18 months to 3 years): Foster independence through practical life activities and early social skills.
  • children’s house (ages 3-6): A vibrant environment where children are introduced to fundamental concepts and encouraged to explore.
  • Workshop 1 (6 to 9 years): Focused on deepening knowledge, creativity and collaboration, with children working on both individual and group projects.
  • Workshop 2 (ages 9-12): Prepare students for greater independence with an emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving.
