The Montessori school 25 minutes from Gibraltar
If you are comparing schools in Gibraltar, there is one more option worth a place on your shortlist — on the Spanish side of the border. IMS Sotogrande offers what many Gibraltar families are looking for: accredited Montessori, true Spanish-English immersion, ages 0-12 — with space, nature and an easier family life. Many of our families crossed for the school and stayed for the lifestyle; we help with both.

Why Gibraltar families make the drive
Native English stays. Real Spanish arrives. And the accreditation travels with you.
Both languages, every day
Half of school life in English, half in Spanish — your child keeps native English and gains real Spanish naturally. French from age 3.
Credentials that travel
NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges) and AMI — standards recognised wherever life takes your family next.
A weekly report, every Friday
You know what your child worked on and how they are doing — plus at least three parent meetings a year.
Space to grow — literally
An outdoor-rich campus in the Sotogrande countryside: nature walks, open-air areas and room to run that is hard to find on the Rock.
The commute, honestly
Straight up the A-7 from the border — against the main traffic flow in the morning.
Relocating to the area? We help with that too
Finding a school and a home at the same time is a lot. We help with the second: honest guidance on the areas where our families live (Sotogrande, La Alcaidesa, Guadiaro, Pueblo Nuevo, Torreguadiaro…) and support throughout your move, with our trusted local contacts.
What families say
«Seeing our daughter come home excitedly telling us about every discovery says it all: this is her place.»
«The team respects each child’s pace in a way we had never seen. My son comes home more confident every day.»
«The care and beauty in every corner moves me. It is a school made with soul — and my daughters live it every day.»
One project, three stages
No school changes: your child grows within one project from 4 months to age 12.
Children’s House · 3-6
Practical life, early literacy and daily bilingual immersion.
Questions from local families
Will my child cope starting with no Spanish?
Yes — immersion is designed exactly for that. Comprehension comes remarkably fast at these ages; production follows each child’s own timing.
Is the border crossing workable daily?
Families doing it report ~25 minutes door to door on normal days, driving against the main morning flow. Breakfast Club adds slack on slower days.
Which ages do you cover?
From 4 months to 12 years — Nursery, Children’s House and Elementary, plus the Rainbow classroom for special educational needs.
We are thinking of moving to the Spanish side — can you help?
Yes. Many of our Gibraltar families made that move. We offer honest guidance on the areas where our families live (Sotogrande, La Alcaidesa, Guadiaro, Pueblo Nuevo…) and accompany you through the relocation with trusted local contacts — many of our families are now happily living in Sotogrande or La Alcaidesa. Just tell us during your visit.
Will an international move later be a problem?
No — NEASC accreditation and the Montessori curriculum are recognised internationally, and we document each child’s progress thoroughly for school transfers.
Come and spend a morning with us
Half an hour in our classrooms says more than any website. The coffee is on us.
«The only school in the area with Spanish and English running continuously in the classroom — plus French as a reinforcing third language from age 3.»
