Welcome Back to a New School Year at the IMS in Sotogrande

Montessori Education

As the long summer gently fades, and the excitement of the new school year continues to fill the air, we are thrilled to welcome our students, families, and staff back to The International Montessori School of Sotogrande (IMS). These first few weeks have been incredible, and we look forward to the many opportunities for exploration, growth, and learning what the year ahead will bring.

Embracing the Montessori Spirit

At IMS Sotogrande, we remain deeply committed to the Montessori philosophy, which serves as the foundation of everything we do. Maria Montessori once said, “The greatest sign of success for a teacher… is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist.'” This quote beautifully captures the essence of our approach—fostering independence, self-confidence, and a love for learning in every child. Our goal is to create an environment where students are empowered to take charge of their own education, develop bilingualism, explore their interests, and grow into confident, capable individuals.

International Montessori School groups

We cater to different age groups, ensuring that each child learns in a developmentally appropriate environment:

  • Nido (5 to 18 months): A nurturing space where the youngest children develop through exploration and sensory experiences.
  • Infant Community (18 months to 3 years): Fostering independence through practical life activities and early social skills.
  • Children’s House (3 to 6 years): A vibrant environment where children are introduced to foundational concepts and encouraged to explore.
  • Taller 1 (6 to 9 years): Focused on deepening knowledge, creativity, and collaboration, with children working on both individual and group projects.
  • Taller 2 (9 to 12 years): Preparing students for greater independence with an emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving.
